| WISMILAK INTERNATIONAL BALI ANNOUNCES SEPTEMBER 11 to 18
as 2005 TOURNAMENT DATES
Bali, January 20th, 2005... South East Asia’s biggest tennis tournament, Wismilak International Bali announces 2005 tournament to run from September 11th until 18th.
Tournament Director, Kevin Livesey, informs,”Offering prize money of US$ 225 000, Wismilak International Bali is characteristically scheduled immediately after the US Open to allow a semi down time for players yet still keeping up the competitive tempo of plays and practices.”
This year, Wismilak International Bali will be on its 12th year, gaining a well-deserved reputation of being not only well organised but also offering excellent hospitality, talked about by top tennis players and spectators alike. International women tennis players not only play tennis but also enjoy Bali with programmes such as sailing, photo sessions for lifestyle magazines, SPA treatments and cooking classes. For spectators, the tournament organiser is additionally looking forward to providing a family day-out atmosphere at the weekend of September 17th and 18th with an in-house DJ, food, drinks and entertainment, so everyone in the family can have a good time.

The event’s annual venue, Grand Hyatt Bali, is now undergoing a facelift to ensure preparation for the September schedule.

Since its debut in 1994, Wismilak International Women’s World Tennis Tour had been held in Surabaya with the forth year’s prize money in 1998 totaling to US$ 107,000. Initially the event was named “Wismilak Open” however it then changed to “Wismilak International” in 1996 as a reflection of the organiser’s corporate expansion into the international market. The event’s historical venue of Embong Sawo Tennis Club in Surabaya turned 100 years old in 1997. Up until today, Wismilak International Women’s World Tennis Tour is still the largest tournament in WTA’s calendar in South East Asia.
