WISMILAK INTERNATIONAL BALI ANNOUNCES JOURNALIST CONTEST
Bali , 17 April 2005 ... Wismilak International in its 12 th consecutive year encourages sports research and writing by announcing the Sports Journalist Contest (LKJOR) 2005, in conjunction with Women's Tennis Tournament WTA Tour 2005. This contest aims to increase Indonesian journalist creativity and writing skills, specifically in tennis, as well as convey Wismilak International's appreciation and gratitude to all media journalists, both electronic and print for their past and present support and coverage during the tournament event.
Enrollment for the LKJOR opens in May and closes in September 2005. The entry appraisal and winning entries announcement will be held in October 2005. Wismilak International 2005 LKJOR offers a reward of cash in total amount of Rp 64,500,000 and various merchandise and hotel voucher from sponsors to 17 winners from all categories.
Entries that are eligible for this contest consist of the following categories : printed media including daily newspaper, magazine and tabloid; photography media; and electronic media, including TV and Radio. This contest is open for individuals as well as teams working in the journalistic sector.
Similar to previous years, this year the participants can select from the topics provided in relation to Wismilak International 2005 as follows: (1) Coverage of the entire Tournament; (2) The potential of this international scale event as a promotional tool and restore Indonesia's image world wide; (3) Profile of a national or international athlete that will participate or has participated in the past in the tennis tournament; (4) Wismilak International 2005, a new style for integrated sports; or (5) Wismilak International 2005 impact on tennis development in Indonesia.
The organizers represented by Ronald Walla looks forward to this year's contest, “ As the organizer, Wismilak International wishes to convey its deepest gratitude to all sports journalist in Indonesia, whom have participated in developing community awareness and understanding of tennis in general, through their writing and coverage in various mass media .”

Since its debut in 1994, Wismilak International Women's World Tennis Tour had been held in Surabaya with the forth year's prize money in 1998 totaling to US$ 107,000. Initially the event was named “Wismilak Open” however it then changed to “Wismilak International” in 1996 as a reflection of the organiser's corporate expansion into the international market. The event's historical venue of Embong Sawo Tennis Club in Surabaya turned 100 years old in 1997. Up until today, Wismilak International Women's World Tennis Tour is still the largest tournament in WTA's calendar in South East Asia .
